Bon Voyage!

Ahhh! Summer is here again or as we say in trini speak July/August vacation is upon us! So what do you do with your time? Why not hop on plane and in to your next adventure! There are so many fantastic and affordable vacation packages now available for you to consider through your local travel agents or international on line agents such at TripAdvisor.

In selecting you destination bear in mind the following tips adapted from USA Today, How to Choose a Vacation:

1. Choose your destination. Domestic travel has come a long way and now affords you the opportunity to experience a new county and culture first hand.

2. Prepare a rough budget in line with your funds allocated for vacation.  This overall allocation of funds will help you determine whether you can afford to stay at a five star hotel or check out hospitality services on Airbnb.

3. Be mindful when choosing vacation dates.  Travel during the July/August vacation can be pricey depending on where you're going so you may want to book well in advance.

4. Ensure that your destination fulfils your vacation interests. If you're into history, are there sites or museums for you to visit? Or is there great shopping?

5. Don't forget to consider the vacation interests of your fellow travellers as well.

6. Take advantage of on line planning. Most destinations have on line information designed to help travellers e.g. subway maps, sites to visit etc.

Do be sure to check out the travel advisory for the country that you're visiting and pay heed to any warnings. Safety is paramount.
